About us
Ghost Buskers is an online social change project started by a group of Communications and New Media students from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
As our name suggests, buskers are a group of people who are often 'invisible' to us as we go about our daily lives. We see them in underground tunnels, along Orchard road and at our favourite heartland malls. Yet they are rarely acknowledged or appreciated by busy onlookers.
Through our project, we hope to dig deeper into the lives of Singapore's talented buskers, to understand their motivations (whether it be passion or need), and provide them with a platform to share their stories.
Ghost Buskers was inspired by a desire to change public perceptions of Singapore's young and ambitious buskers. We want buskers to be viewed as artists and performers that are brave enough to purse their dreams. Finally, we hope to encourage a greater appreciation for buskers among the larger Singaporean culture.
Next time you see them on the streets, remember to give them a smile or a nod! :)
